Matariki

Matariki

- maori used matariki as a signal for when to plant their crops after a long winter.
-if the star were clear and bright, it was a sign that a favourable and productive season lay ahead, and planting would begin September

matariki is a holiday to celebrate the moari new year matariki has brought kiwis together and taught us more our country's ricultural heritage.

makatiki provides on ideal opportunity to explore the ways that people pass on and sustain aspects of their culture and heritage.

the day after new years is on Thursday the 2nd of January. I don't think we need this holiday when we already have labour day.

in my opinion i think matariki should replace the day after new years because matariki has a actual meaning to it.

the day after new years is a day off for all the schools and most businesses
