Act Three, Scene Four


  • What is Lorenzo’s opinion of Antonio? Antonio is a faithful gentleman that life will benefit him Portia and Bassanio. 
  • What does Portia tell Lorenzo she intends to do? She want to send the money to Antonio with no regrets.
  • What does she ask Lorenzo and Jessica to do for her and why? Portia want Lorenzo and Jessica to act as management of the house until Bassanio comes back
  • Why does Portia think Antonio and Bassanio must be alike? because they are best friends, and best friends must be alike for the friendship to continue. 
  • Why do Portia and Nerissa intend to travel dressed as men? they said they were going to the monastery but, they needed to the court to help out Antonio and be dressed as men to do so. 
  • In A3S4 L 60-78, how does Portia describe the behaviour and attitudes of young men. they walk with a manly stride,

  • Does it seem likely that Portia is going to follow the expected  behaviour of a wife? she is willing to help out her husband and friends herself instead of Bassanio helping himself.
